
Established in 2000, Asociación Civil Impacta Salud y Educación is a non-governmental organization dedicated to clinical, biomedical and public health research as it relates to the health and support of people affected by HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. The organization is dedicated to health and human behavior research by means of a multidisciplinary staff committed to the promotion of the wellbeing of individuals and society. Impacta aims to achieve permanent advancements in knowledge that contribute to the expansion of development alternatives, health and education in the benefit of our study populations and the general community.

Juan Vicente Guanira, MD, MPH, graduated from Universidad Cayetano Heredia as a medical surgeon and got his Master's in Public Health Degree from the University of Washington. Dr. Guanira has been a consultant for UNAIDS in aspects related to global access to ARV in developing countries with emphasis in Latin America and the Caribbean.
